Hunter has finished his level 1 swimming lessons, and is all registered for soccer in the fall.
he is doing great with his swimming. he swims really well underwater, although he was never taught how to do that?? that’s the way i always swam too. he loves the pool and the rivers, and i’m sure he will have a great time at the beach next week
he is going to be playing on the Hays Youth Soccer Association Div 4 Recreational, U5 Coed group. Season opens on September 8th.

my car was taken to have the oil changed at xxxxx. i received a call after it was changed, stating that the car had started making lots of noise, lost power, and then the oil light came on. oh my. so in the mean time, the tech from xxxxx was on the way out. the tech found out that he had forgot to put OIL in the car! so the car was taken back to xxxxx and the master mechanic examined it thoroughly. the advising tech said that he would call with an update and find out what our course of action would be.
Well, friday went by, and saturday came and went with no call. So monday when they were contacted, they said oh sorry for not calling, but we found everything that was damaged and replaced it. Which was the crankshaft and bearings. this was quite troubling, since they did not even ask if they could perform work on the car. and since i really believe we should get a new engine for their mistakes. they said we should talk to the manager about this.
i’ve been playing with widgets today. i got tired of re-entering all of the code when i changed themes and so on. so i tried to wigitize everything
anyway, so i was trying to use real widgets, instead of using up all my text widgets. and i think i found all that i needed, ha, or wanted… for now anyway.
i love the APOD!
amidst the torrential downpour yesterday… there were some very interesting clouds over downtown kyle. the nws reported a stationary cell in the area. while crossing 35, i got a good look at the wallcloud and noticed circulation in 3 distinct areas! two funnels, which were circulating each other. which was cool, because i have not witnessed a multi-vortex tornado before. they were both 3/4 funnels, so i was attempting to look for ground debris while i was also on the phone with the weather service.. but after saying “yes, that is two funnel clouds”, i had no choice but to hold on while the driver of the evacuated the area extremely fast… (no chance for pics or video)

my brother came to visit this week. we all had a great time.
all the kids had fun playing, and we all had fun talking and playing games.
they went to sea world, and got to see the night shows (that sounded cool, i’ve never seen them).
and then we went to the McKenna childern’s museum and let the kids play forever.
we were going to go to the snake farm, but it was just too wet. hunter loved it the last time he went.
then we went to cabela’s, my brother had never been (they have a new one in Fort Worth too, he’ll probably be going there all the time now, ha). i finally had someone to look at guns with, but we still got pulled away for looking too long, ha.
it was so nice to see him. he’s always working when i’m up to visit my parents. it was nice to sit down and be able to talk to him. about our parent’s medical problems, about some of my crazy problems that he didn’t know about, and about how things are going on with him.
after our talk, he offered me a shoulder and told me to call him if i needed too. he’s my brother and i love him.
‘Refrigerator-Sized’ Object to be Tossed From Space Station: During the upcoming spacewalk, Anderson will jettison a 1,400-pound (635-kilograms) refrigerator-sized container of ammonia, or Early Ammonia Servicer (EAS), away from the station at a gentle pace of one mile per hour (1.6 kph). He’ll also toss a 212-pound (96-kilogram) stanchion used to attach a camera to the space laboratory toward the Earth… Once tossed from the space station, both objects will be tracked by NASA for almost a year until they begin entering the atmosphere. The agency expects the stanchion to burn up completely, but think pieces of the ammonia tank may reach the Earth’s surface… “We don’t know where it’s going to land yet,” Dempsey said, but added that it will likely be over the ocean and shouldn’t damage satellites or other spacecraft in orbit.
dotpaw’s weather station: oh how i want a weather station. it has been on my wish list for quite sometime. maybe i can get one in the near future… yeah, i’ll probably put it on my car anyway, ha
went to the Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly Conservatory at the River Bend Nature Center in Wichita Falls this weekend. It was a huge glass room filled with butterflies and scenes from north texas. lots of animals (not real) were hiding behind (real) bushes and trees, which will grow to fill some of the room. there were boxes of cocoons, just waiting to hatch, of all sorts of butterflies. i saw one that had just squeezed out and was drying it’s wings, before finding it’s way out and flying off. the butterflies were beautiful, all over the place. there were also catfish (real) in a mock pond, and native turtles (real) in an aquarium. at which the woman was telling people, who were holding them, that “they don’t bite”, HA – lots of liability there. yes, turtles bite, that’s how they eat, no teeth, sharp beak. shell protects, mouth defends. my grandmother used to say that a turtle wouldn’t let go until it thundered. and i suppose the catfish were there for population control (of the butterflies), ha, maybe not. an interesting sign was posted on the exit doors “do not allow any butterflies to leave exhibt – in accordance with FDA regulations”. i guess if one catches a ride on your shoulder, then you would actually be “exporting” it? also the roof was made of glass as well, and I would have loved to have seen it on a stormy day. watching the rain fall all around. maybe next time.
