My Dad

my dad just passed away

1

one year ago

my treo has a lisp

the “p” key on my Treo650 has become very sensitive, and appends a “p” to several things i write. i feel like i’m writing in LISP, and constantly asking questions, ha.

Red Dwarf

today i was watching a few episodes of one of my favorite shows – Red Dwarf. i’ve never known anyone else that likes it, except for nf0. several years ago he kindly shared his VCD collection with me. previously, i was limited to watching VHS recordings made at my mom & dad’s from the only PBS station around (ch. 13 in FTW), about 60 miles away, which looked like a picture in a snowstorm. so i would like to tell him Thank You, again. they still make me laugh :)

hospice

my mom told me that my dad has been put on Hospice. she said that it is better for him, because his medicine is all paid for and he is getting a new bed that is a hospital bed that will elevate his legs at night, and a walker with a little seat to take out walking around with him. and some new pain medicine. i already didn’t agree with what the dr was giving him, too much pain meds, not therapeutic at all! all it’s good for is to get him hooked on it and make it hard for me to talk to him. mom said hospice isn’t a bad thing, but i’m sad, and angry, and sad.

DVR – no program descriptions

i have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 Digital Home Communication Terminal (DVR) on Time Warner service, and lately it has been losing the program descriptions. the fix i have found is to re-boot (imagine that). then it will work for a couple of weeks, but go back to the same problem. when it has this problem, it also takes a long time to browse from one day to the next in the guide. (just a note for others who may have the same prob, or might have a fix).

weekend

friday i went driving around a bit. i checked out the new skatepark, it was nice. the street portion is finished, but they are adding more on later. then i went out to do some work on a friend’s computer(s), which also involved removing a bull snake from their garage. which i safely relocated to some brush. and hunter got to ride on their 4 wheelers & go-cart while i was working, so he had fun.

then saturday hunter had his soccer game and did really well, two goals, lots of steals, much sweat, and one snowcone. later we dug a hole in the yard with the little gardening shovel and he played with his dumptruck. so the natural progression there was to turn on the water and fill the hole with water and then play in the mud. so he got a nice hose down afterwards. i can still remember those days, how fun… then later we played bubbles and hide-n-go-seek outside.

today we played mimi mow the lawn on the tractor and hunter ride the gator around and around and around. he can really fly now that i have it switched into high-gear, posi-trac, woo-hoo~ and again with the water in the hole, and then splashing through it in his truck, ha. then he comes around and says stop, i gotta tell you something. “i ran over the okra plants”. oh my. “i wasn’t looking where i was going, but my wheel didn’t sqush them, they just went under the truck”. they were actually ok, all but one. Then we went riding bikes for awhile. it was a pretty nice weekend :)

festing

why does “fest” have to mean so festing expensive?? :(

growing up

i guess it’s not so bad that he’s growing up. i really enjoy helping him with his homework. he will be reading in no time. he can already read the names of the kids in his class. i’ve been working with him on math flashcards too, and he can do addition and subtraction now! and play the recorder. he can play 3 or 4 songs. i’m so proud of him.

oh, and his team won the soccer game last weekend! he played like a pro. he stole the ball away from the other team and took it down the field, passed it off to a teammate and they kicked it in! the guy sitting next to me asked if he had played before, i said no, just in the house.

movie of william’s story

i just watched New Rose Hotel. i rented it because of my love for William Gibson. but all i can say now is, Asia Argento..
