The service has had continued issues with Acceptable Use Policy infractions due to the nature of some of the content within Newsgroups and activities of Newsgroups users. Due to the combination of low subscriber usage and Acceptable Use Policy issues, Road Runner has decided to discontinue Newsgroups as of June 23, 2008. Subscriber usage has been minimal, averaging 27K IP connections per day across Road Runner, Brighthouse and Insight (under 2% of the user base). Customers can continue to access Newsgroups from a third party provider such as Highwinds or Giganews. Here’s their reply:
